Police Blotter: Neighbor Believes He Sees Burglary, and He's Right

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

An Olde Orchard Road resident thought it was suspicious when he saw a two teens jump out of a van and run into a back yard across the street shortly before noon Oct. 6, then return a few minutes later carrying full bags.

The driver of the van turned around in the cul-de-sac while they were gone, and was waiting when the two jumped back in.

Police checked the area, but couldn't find anything suspicious.

A resident did, though, when he returned home about 7:30 p.m. to find a screen open and two safes missing from the house.

Also, an iPad was stolen from the car of an Olde Orchard resident. Police were not sure where the car was when the iPad was taken, but believe it may be related to the burglary.

The van was described as a newer Ford, two-tone gold in color.

Stop, Thieves

A stop sign disappeared at the corner of Idlewood Trail and Albion Road Oct. 3, causing traffic to enter the intersection willy nilly.

The service department erected a temporary sign until a new one could be installed.

Bow Hunting Prohibited

Police were asked to look into the shooting of a deer found in a Wilma Drive yard Oct. 4.

The animal warden said it appeared the eight-point buck was killed with an arrow.

Kids Caught Smoking

Two teens were cited for underage possession of tobacco after a resident reported a group of students go into a park off White Bark Drive about 7:45 a.m. Oct. 4.

The resident suspected drugs, but police found no illicit narcotics. They did find the teens with cigarettes, though.

No Handouts

A Parma Heights man was warned about begging after customers at Speedway, 21043 Royalton Rd., complained he was asking patrons for money Oct. 3.

The man told officers he was short on funds. He agreed to leave the area.
