Police Blotter: 'Scrapper' Takes Something that's Not Garbage

The following information was provided by the Strongsville Police Department

 

A child's lemonade stand was snapped up by a trash-picker when she left it unattended for a few minutes March 10.

A report said some kids on Barton Drive set up the stand during the nice weather on Sunday.

About 5:30 p.m., a girl left the metal table on the treelawn and went into the house for a minute.

When she returned, the table was gone -- apparently grabbed by a "scrapper" looking for valuable items in the trash.

The next day was trash day on Barton. 

The owners asked police to try to get the table back if they run across the trash-pickers.

Car Break-In

Two teens were spotted trying to break into a car on Tradewinds Drive about 1:40 a.m. March 9.

They took off running into the woods.

Missing from the vehicle was an iPhone charger, but police located it and returned it to the owner.

Suspicious Bag

A caller reported a child's backback left at the corner of Meadown Lane and Fountain Court March 8, saying it looked suspicious.

Police found the pack was designed for a small child and contained a few pieces of paper.

Suspicious Person

A Cedar Branch Trail resident said a man with long bushy hair and a backpack rang his doorbell about 7 p.m. March 8.

He didn't know what the visitor wanted because he didn't answer the door, a report said, but asked police to check the man out.

Officers checked the development but couldn't locate the bushy-haired stranger.

Purse-Wearing Man

A man wearing a purse around his neck aroused suspicion from a passerby when he walked into Huntington Bank on Pearl Road March 8.

Police checked the bank and its employees and found nothing amiss.
