Police Blotter: Stop at Police Station Averts Scam; Someone Really Wants Those Signs

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

 

A Pebble Brook Lane resident has lost three political signs to thieves, even though she brings them in at night.

The most recent theft was reported Oct. 23. A report said the signs are being stolen during the day, and it happened three times in five days.

The report did not specify which candidate the signs supported.

A Bennington Drive woman got a call from a man who told her if she went to Western Union at Giant Eagle she would receive $7,000.

Fortunately, she stopped at the Strongsville Police Department before going to the grocery store. 

Officers gave her some advice about the scam.

Suspicious Questions

A Lanier Avenue resident said a man parked across from her house Oct. 23 and tried to ask her questions about her roof and a dog.

The woman and her husband left, but a neighbor told them the man continued to sit in his car and stare at their house.

He left before police arrived.

Suspicous Bag

A man driving a truck stopped at the garbage can in front of Cleats Oct. 24 and threw a duffle bag in it.

Police found the bag was old and contained garbage.

Sidewalk Napping

Police were called to the Shell station on Royalton Road about 7 p.m. Oct. 24 about a man who had been lying on the sidewalk for more than an hour.

Officers called an ambulance for the man, then followed him to the hospital to issue a citation for disorderly conduct while intoxicated.
