Police Blotter: Thefts at Rec Center; Chickens in the Road

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

Hiding a wallet in a shoe didn't fool a thief at the April 13.

A report said the wallet, which contained $250 in cash, was reported stolen from the gym about 1 p.m. The man's phone was also taken.

The items were hidden under a hoodie.

Police were called back to the rec center the following day for a similar theft. An investigation is continuing.

Ladder Issues

Police were called to Barbara Drive about 5 a.m. April 13 after someone saw several young teens carrying ladders toward Whitney School.

Officers couldn't locate the kids on Barbara or Wolf Drive.

Later that day, though, a Wolf Drive resident reported a ladder stolen from the back yard. 

And on Sprague Road, someone reported that four ladders, scaffolds, a roofing brake and shrubs were stolen from the back yard.

Some of the items had been chained up.

Chickens Run Free

Residents reported six chickens running around on Royalton Road near Crystal Creek about 2:30 p.m. April 14.

Some were getting close to the road, according to a report.

An officer found only one chicken, who was well back from the roadway, but contacted the animal warden for follow-up.

Shots Fired

Gunshots were April 14, three days after Brunswick police got a similar report.

A report said a Strongsville sergeant heard two of the shots this time and asked Brunswick to check out a big open field on the south side of Boston where the shots seemed to be coming from.

On April 11, Brunswick police asked Strongsville to stand by when they checked out reports of shots in that area.

Burglary

A Rosalee Lane resident reported a burglary about 9:45 p.m. April 14.

The intruder broke in through a basement window.
