The caller didn't want the turkeys to get hit by passing cars, a report said.

When police arrived, the birds had flown the coop. Officers called the Service Department to get rid of the dead animal in the road.

Breaking Up is Hard to Do

A Compass Point Drive couple asked police for advice on how to handle their break-up, but apparently didn't follow it.

The woman asked officers on Saturday how to go about retrieving her property from her ex-fiance's house. Neither party wanted police to be present when she did.

But officers were called to the house twice on Sunday. The man reported about 12:20 p.m. that he wasn't home, but a neighbor had informed him someone was breaking in.

Police found no one there. The man called back an hour later to say he was home and his ex-girlfriend had broken in.

Meanwhile, the woman went to the police station to file a stalking report.

No charges have been filed.

Speed Demon

A witness saw a tan vehicle blow through the stop sign at Quail Hollow and Lanier going about 70 mph about 3:20 p.m. Friday.

The car was headed toward Hunting Meadows.

Police checked the area, but couldn't find the speeder.
