Police Blotter: Vandals Out Friday Night: 2 Burglaries; Woman Begs for Money

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

A group of kids wreaked some havoc early Saturday morning on Forestview, Basswood, Lake Meadows, Pine Lakes and Rosalee.

About 5 a.m., a Lake Meadows Drive resident spotted a few kids, some wearing gray hoodies, running away after breaking his lightpost.

On Rosalee, a resident reported about 7 a.m. that a lamp post was hit so hard it was knocked off the base, breaking the glass.

Reports also noted that landscaping lights were damaged on Basswood; at a Forestview Drive house a lamp post was damaged and all the lighting was ripped out; and a lamp post on Pine Lakes Drive was damaged.

Jewelry Taken in Burglaries

Jewelry disappeared from two homes May 11 and 12, according to reports.

A resident of Versailles reported May 12 that jewelry disappeared from her house the previous day. 

There were no signs of forced entry, but the resident said the intruder may have gotten in through a rear sliding door. 

And a Pearl Road apartment tenant got home about 5:20 a.m. May 12 to find items thrown around and jewelry missing.

Flower Woman

Police got three reports May 12 and 13 about a woman approaching people on Royalton and Pearl roads to ask for money.

The woman was in her 40s with long braided hair. She was well-dressed, wearing a long skirt and white sweater.

One person said she was asking for money to feed her hungry children on May 12; another said she was asking for money in exchange for flowers.

On May 13, police located her on Royalton Road with a handful of flowers. The woman, who is from Florida, agreed to stop until she gets a solicitor's permit.

Theft from Car

An iPad was taken from a car parked at the afternoon of May 13.

The car was parked near .

Fake Bills

Some counterfeit $100 bills showed up at May 11.

Police took the bills and will investigate.
