Police Blotter: Woman Pays $10 To Have Driveway Cleared, then Reports Scam
The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department
An Oxford Drive woman called police Jan. 21, fearing she had been scammed after giving an elderly man $10 to clear the snow from her driveway.
A report said a man in his 70s came to her door Saturday morning and motioned to her, asking if she wanted the snow removed from her driveway.
When he finished, she gave him $10 and he left. The woman then became uneasy about giving him the money and reported a scam.

Police could not locate the man, but said the driveway was clear and there was no scam involved.
The woman said the man was not wearing gloves or warm clothes and seemed disappointed with his $10 payment.

Frosty in the Middle
A group of kids built a snowman in the middle of the intersection of Windward Way and Whispering Pines the evening of Jan. 22, running into a nearby house to watch for cars.
Police located the kids and told them to get Frosty out of the street. They complied.
Light On, Door Open
Police checked on two vehicles in the Holiday Inn parking lot about 3:30 a.m. Jan. 21 after noticing one had the interior light on and the other's doors were wide open.
There was a few inches of snow in the van with open door, a report said.
The officer closed the door, but couldn't get into the other car to turn off the light.
Loud Music
An anonymous caller complained about loud music coming from a Whitney Road apartment about 9:45 p.m. Jan. 20.
Police determined the Ukrainian music was excessively loud and warned the tenants.
