Police Called after Mom Forgets Baby in Unlocked Car

Story has happy ending as passerby notices infant alone in vehicle

A passerby called police about 1:45 p.m. Saturday after noticing an infant alone in a car parked outside , 18220 Royalton Rd.

The witness said the doors to the car were unlocked, so he opened them to see if the child was all right. One window was down an inch or two, a report said.

Police said the mother, 25, of Lakewood, then came out of the store and said she had forgotten the baby was with her.

The mom said she had stopped at the child's grandmother's and it slipped her mind that she had her daughter in the car.

The report said the woman was "very remorseful" and the officer believed the incident was an accident. The mom was not cited.

Really? Outside Champs? Window left cracked? I have been trying for years to come up with some type of invention to help avoid this very situation (accidental or othewise). This happens to many times every year and not always with the ending that this child had!
