Police Called after Mom Forgets Baby in Unlocked Car

Story has happy ending as passerby notices infant alone in vehicle

A passerby called police about 1:45 p.m. Saturday after noticing an infant alone in a car parked outside , 18220 Royalton Rd.

The witness said the doors to the car were unlocked, so he opened them to see if the child was all right. One window was down an inch or two, a report said.

Police said the mother, 25, of Lakewood, then came out of the store and said she had forgotten the baby was with her.

The mom said she had stopped at the child's grandmother's and it slipped her mind that she had her daughter in the car.

The report said the woman was "very remorseful" and the officer believed the incident was an accident. The mom was not cited.
