Power Outage at Mall; Man Sleeping in Storage Unit: Police Blotter

The following information was provided by the Strongsville Police Department

A complete power outage at SouthPark Mall left stores and the movie theater dark and three people trapped in an elevator.

A report said the electricity went out about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, affecting the mall, Cinemark and all the outer stores.

A little after 10 p.m., three people who had been inside the Center Court elevator were freed. 

CEI arrived about 10:30 p.m., but said the earliest power could be restored was 2 a.m.

A report said the power came back on at 2:15 a.m.

Snoozing in the Wrong Place

A man called police about 12:40 a.m. June 28 to report that a man was again sleeping in his Pearl Road storage unit and wanted help getting him out.

Police took the sleepy resident to his Strongsville home and warned him about the storage company's hours.

A Little Warm for That

A suspicious caller told police she saw a man wearing a ski mask get out of a truck at SouthPark Mall about 6 a.m. June 28.

Police found the man is a janitor who works at the mall.

Is This a Yard Sale?

A Settlers Way family wasn't happy when someone went through their possessions June 30.

A report said the residents cleaned out their garage and left items in the driveway. While they were gone, someone came by and messed up the items, strewing them around.

Nothing was damaged or taken.

Mischief

Kids caused some trouble on Woodhurst Drive, ringing a doorbell and running just before midnight June 29.

Police couldn't find the kids in the area.
