Search for Sex Offenders in Your Neighborhood: Just in Time for Trick-or-Treat

Police will be out in force on Halloween, but parents can do a little checking ahead of time, too

Parents preach all year long to not take candy from strangers — well, of course, unless it's Halloween.

It's a good idea to know who your neighbors are year-round, but sending your kids door-to-door offers a little extra incentive to make sure they don't trick-or-treat at a questionable house.

Are you sure a sex offender hasn't moved into the neighborhood?

You can check this searchable database with an interactive map at Familywatchdog.org

A way to search for registered sex offenders can also be found on the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Department website.

A search of a two-mile radius around Center Middle School turned up 14 offenders.

The website homefacts.com also offers a list of 25 sex offenders in the Strongsville area.

Strongsville police will patrol the streets in marked cruisers between 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31 for trick-or-treat.

Kids are urged to carry glow sticks or flashlights so they stay visible during their rounds.

I used to google or go to a certain website before whenever I'd like to check registered sex offenders near our area, but now, not anymore. I have this kind of app on my phone that I would be able to view threat level and sex offenders in our area. It's an app also that would help me and my whole family be safe at all time. When we encounter an emergency, we will just have to press the Panic button on our phone and all our loved ones will be alerted. If needed, the call can be escalated to the nearest 911 in our area. If you would like to know more about the service, you can check their site http://Safekidzone.com
