Someone Impersonates an Officer with Fake Ticket: Police Blotter

The following information was provided by the Strongsville Police Department

A woman at SouthPark Mall told police someone put a phony ticket on her car windshield Sept. 22.

A report said that when the woman pulled out of a parking space, another vehicle followed her. 

When she parked in another area of the mall parking lot, a man in the other car got out and put a ticket on her car.

Police called the number on the ticket and it went to a fax machine. The woman offered no description of the man or his car.

Gunfire

A Brookstone Way resident reported hearing about a dozen gunshots around 8:15 p.m. Sept. 21.

Mischief

Someone uprooted plants in a yard on Winding Trail, a report said.

The incident was reported Sept. 20.

Two Very Different Stories

A witness reported a truck going twice the speed limit past a school for kids with special needs on Drake Road Sept. 20.

The truck then did a donut and sped by again. When she motioned for the driver to slow down, he laughed, the report said.

But police spoke with the driver's mother, who said she was a passenger in the vehicle at the time so her son could show her where to pick up her grandson from school.

She said the weren't driving recklessly and did not do any donuts.

Not a Scam After All

An Autumn Oval resident got suspicious when someone came to her house claiming to be a census taker.

The visitor left a note that said he'd be back in three months.

Police spoke with the Department of Commerce and learned the Census Bureau is, in fact, trying to get information from the resident.
