Someone Lurking Outside House; Driver Snoozes in Middle of Road: Police Blotter

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

A late-night trespasser rattled a Woodfield Trail family -- and led to two unrelated arrests.

A report said a resident heard a rustling noise under a window about 12:45 a.m. Jan. 4.

He looked outside and saw a figure by the door. The person ran off.

When police arrived on the street, they came across two young men who had been drinking. They weren't suspects because they were too intoxicated to have been running, the report said.

Police cited both and drove one to his Strongsville home. The other was taken to the police station to arrange for a ride home to Broadview Heights.

Officers followed footprints from the Woodfield home to Coopers Run, but couldn't track down the people who had been in the yard.

Nap Time

Passersby reported a car stopped in the middle of Royalton Road near I-71 with a sleeping driver about 5 a.m. Jan. 6.

Police said the man was not intoxicated -- just very tired. He hadn't realized he'd fallen asleep.

An officer told him to get a cup of coffee before continuing home.

Mischief

An Ellsworth Drive resident heard a loud noise about 2 a.m. Jan. 6 and discovered later someone had shot a paintball at the window.

Theft from Iceland

Six kids at Hoover Arena said cash was taken from their lockers Jan. 4.

There were several hundred skaters there from various schools, a report said, but coaches did not lock the locker rooms.

A number of other items, including cell phones and credit cards, were left behind, with only cash taken.

A total of $155 was stolen.

Up on the Roof

A neighbor got suspicious when she saw two people on a Walnut Drive roof Jan. 6.

Both crawled into the house through a window.

Police checked with the owner, who said her dryer wasn't working and her sons were on the roof trying to clean out the vent.
