Strongsville Police Blotter: Answer To These Incidents is Blowin' in the Wind

A blustery morning Feb. 14 kept police hopping, called to check out at least four incidents caused by a hearty wind.

Officers stopped a driver on Webster and Whitney roads shortly after midnight after he stopped his car on the street. He said garbage had blown out of a driveway and he was trying to get the cardboard box out from under his car.

An hour later, someone reported a cinder block in the middle of Royalton Road, but it turned out to be the mailbox for restaurant, which had blown into the street.

Another motorist stopped on Royalton Road after running over something in the road. Police found a road sign had blown off its post and was lying in the street.

And a Carol Drive resident reported about 10 a.m. that her neighbor's front door was open and she knew the family members were at work. Police found no evidence of tampering and determined the door had been blown open by the wind.

In other police news:

• A woman reported losing her $2,000 Troll Beads bracelet at Feb. 15. She said she let another customer look at it about 11:40 a.m., but believes the shopper returned it and she put it in her pocket. It contains a number of retired and rare beads, a report said.

• A stolen car was recovered after a friend of the victim spotted it in the Ehrnfelt Recreation Center parking lot. The victim, who reported his 2004 Honda stolen Feb. 14, told police two days later his friend had seen it at the rec center that day. Police towed it to the station for processing.

• Someone reported a suspicious man wearing camouflage clothing and walking in the middle Drake Road at 4:50 a.m. Feb. 17. The man told police he was taking a walk because he couldn't sleep and was walking in the road because the sidewalks were icy. He was wearing a hoodie with a design, not camo.

• A West 130th Street resident returned home about 2:15 p.m. Feb. 16 and found the house had been broken into. Police advised the homeowner to wait outside until officers arrived.

• A man was seen taking pictures of a house on Meadownorth Court Feb. 15. When the homeowner asked who he was, he refused to talk and left in a car. Police found a note on the front door from a credit company.

• Wiring was taken from two houses under construction on Castlereagh Lane. The theft was reported Feb. 14.

• Someone driving a black Toyota Camry followed a Jonathan Drive woman home, flashing lights and beeping the horn. After she pulled into her driveway, the car drove past two more times. Police could not locate the Camry.
