Strongsville Police Blotter: Bag of Animal Parts Found in Road

Also, animals run wild in Strongsville; man finds drunken woman lying in driveway

Police were called to Strongsville Boulevard about 8 p.m. May 8 after someone found a trash bad in the middle of the street with animal parts in it.

Officers determined the white trash bag was filled with pieces of mallard duck, like breasts and wings, sealed in plastic bags.

A report said the bag, which had likely been in the road all day, may have fallen from the roof or trunk of a hunter's car.

Police moved the bag to the side of the road and alerted the Service Department to pick it up, with a note that said "it will be really 'fowl' smelling."

• Wildlife and other animals had police hopping over the last few days, with a call about a turtle and others about geese and raccoons.

On May 8, someone called about a large turtle in the road on Royalton Road at I-71, but officers could not find him. 

The same day, a caller reported a Canada goose trying to cross I-71 with babies; an officer found the family and shooed them away from the road. And a dog was reportedly chained on a vacant lot on Drake Road on a leash that was so long the pup could run into the street. The dog was not there when police arrived.

On May 7, a raccoon got into an enclosed deck on East Donegal Lane. "It appears the raccoon just wanted to go in the hot tub," but the officer caught it with a noose and it ran off, the report says.

And on Admiralty, baby raccoons fell down the chimney and landed  in the family room May 6.

• Two men wearing bandannas went into , 12927 Pearl Rd., May 6 and asked if they could tell fortunes. The men, who were described as being of middle eastern descent, left on foot.

• A man was arrested outside a Whitney Road apartment about 7:30 p.m. May 6 after throwing things a cars in the parking lot. The apartment manager's wife called for help after locking herself in her unit.

The man was charged with disorderly conduct.

• A Lanier Drive resident took his dog out at 5:25 a.m. May 8 and found a woman lying at the end of his driveway with her feet in the street. She got up and started walking toward Howe Road.

Police found the woman was highly intoxicated. They gave her a ride to her boyfriend's apartment at Chestnut Lakes.

• A North Olmsted man left , 17771 Southpark Center, shortly before 1 a.m. May 8 and found someone had let the air out of his tires and spit on his car. He told police he had pulled in next to someone who had parked sideways so no one would park next to him, and suspects that driver was the culprit.

• An Oxford Oval couple were in their house about 7:30 p.m. May 8 when they heard someone enter the house through the garage.

The intruder must have heard their voices and fled. They did not see anyone and nothing appeared to be missing.

• A landscaping company put some equipment on the tree lawn of an East Donegal Lane house where they were working about 10 a.m. May 6, when someone in a blue truck drove up and stole it.

• Police were alerted to a car outside Westfield SouthPark that was left running for two hours about 2 a.m. May 8. Police determined the car belonged to a Medina woman, but couldn't find a phone number.

The car was locked. Mall security officers said they would keep an eye on it.
