Strongsville Police Blotter: Counterfeit $100 Bills Found

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

Counterfeit $100 bills were reported twice this week -- one before it was spent and one after.

An employee at a store at told police a man carrying packages from other stores tried to use a $100 bill to pay for items about 1:45 p.m. Sept. 13.

She said she held the bill up to the light and saw it had a $5 strip in it.

The man grabbed the bill back and left the store. 

The next morning, employees at , 18074 Royalton Rd., reported receiving a fake $100 the previous evening.

A report said the bill was used to pay for several pairs of shoes. The store had already turned it over to the bank.

The suspect in the first incident was a white man. The $100 was used at Famous Footwear by a black couple.

Bike Stolen

A bicycle left in the front yard of a Bent Tree Court home was stolen Sept. 14.

A report said it was taken between 6:30 and 9 p.m.

Thief Takes Off

A Wolf Run Circle man told police he saw someone trying to get into his neighbor's car just after midnight Sept. 13.

He yelled and the male fled toward Hawks Lookout.

Police couldn't find the would-be thief, but they discovered the car's hatchback standing open. There were groceries inside, but nothing seemed to be taken.

The resident did not answer a knock at her door.

Voices Cause a Scare

Police were called to Winding Trail about 11:40 p.m. Sept. 13 after the daughter in the home texted her mother and said to send the police.

Dispatchers called the girl, who said she was home alone and could hear voices in the house.

The girl's mother went home, but police told her to wait outside till they arrived. Officers found no signs anyone had broken in, then checked the house and found no intruders.

A report said they believe the daughter heard construction workers on Pearl Road.
