Strongsville Police Blotter: Dispute Over 49 Cents Brings Police to Restaurant

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

A customer at the food court called police Aug. 18 because he got the wrong order, leading to a 49-cent additional charge on his credit card.

The man told police got his order wrong, and was upset because there was a 49-cent upgrade for fried rice.

The restaurant refunded the money.

But the man called his credit card company and found the charge was still listed. 

He demanded the original receipt, but employees said they needed the original and could only give him a copy.

Police told the man it was a civil matter, not criminal, and asked him to give the bank a few days to update its records.

Why Did the Peacock . . .?

Someone called police about 6 p.m. Aug. 18 to report there was a peacock crossing Shurmer Road near Hunting Meadows.

Car Rifled

A Jonathan Drive man went out the morning of Aug. 17 to find someone had rummaged through his glove box during the night.

The car had been unlocked.

Suspicious Call

A resident of Nob Hill was unsettled when he got a call at 1 a.m. Aug. 15 from a young person asking for help.

The caller also asked him to go to McDonald's, the report said.

Police drove by the man's house and McDonald's and found nothing out of the ordinary.

Pole Fire

Safety officials spent more than two hours at the scene of a street light fire on Drake Road Aug. 16.

Firefighters put out the fire about 9:30 p.m., but the bulb kept reigniting, a report said.

It took CEI until about midnight to arrive to turn off power to the pole.
