Strongsville Police Blotter: Dogs Scare Away Nighttime Intruder

Also, officers help out some baby deer

Some Gate Post Road residents heard a noise during the night of May 15, but their dogs barked and the noise stopped.

The next morning, they found someone had tried to break in while they slept. A door latch was broken and the door frame damaged.

The same night, another Gate Post resident reported someone rang her doorbell at 1:45 a.m. That woman was concerned because her wallet was stolen a month ago and the thief has her personal information.

In other news:

• Police were called to assist two young deer May 18. At 9 a.m., a Glendale Avenue resident reported a baby deer lying on the sidewalk.

An officer said the deer did not appear to be injured, but didn't move when he got close. It may have been waiting for its mother to return, a report said. The animal warden was notified.

About 7 p.m., someone reported a small fawn on the berm on Priem Road. An officer discovered it was a newborn and put it in the woods.

• A Berkshire Circle woman called for help May 16 after someone trying to scam her on the phone said he would send someone to her house collect money. Police determined the call was made in Jamaica.

• Two people lost their cell phones and an iPod Touch when they left them on the bleachers while playing basketball at the the afternoon of May 16.

• A burglar broke a back window to get into a Whitney Road house May 19.

• A Valley Creek Drive man got more than 20 harassing text messages from a Brunswick woman over the last two weeks. The man said he inquired about a car she has for sale and she has been harassing him ever since. Police left a message on her voicemail warning her to stop or face charges.

• A Fair Road man reported hearing a gunshot about 11:30 p.m. May 18.
