Strongsville Police Blotter: Driver Stops at Mailboxes, But May Not be Newsworthy

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

A Willow Wood Drive resident called police about 4 a.m. June 1 to report a woman driving up and down the street, stopping at mailboxes.

Police couldn't find the car, but did notice that all the boxes had newspapers in them.

Nanci Drive residents came home about 9:45 p.m. May 30 to find their home had been broken into. Details were not immediately available.

Hate Crime?

Someone damaged a mailbox on Nantucket Row and threw an American flag in the front yard the night of May 29. The resident told police he feels it was a hate crime because his skin is not white.

Suspicious Man at Allen

A woman told police she encountered a man sleeping on a bench at Allen School about 8:20 a.m. May 30.

As she came around the building, she saw the man had gotten up and was leaning against the wall as if waiting for her. She went the other way to avoid him.

He was in his 30s and wearing  shorts and an orange and white tie-dyed shirt.

Pouncing Raccoon

An employee at a Drake Road business called for help June 2 because a large raccoon was sitting on a Dumpster behind the building and was concerned it would pounce on anyone who took out the garbage.

Another employee scared away the masked culprit before police arrived.
