Strongsville Police Blotter: Garage Door Opener is Key to Burglary

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

A Forestview Drive resident who left his garage door opener in his unlocked car gave a burglar an open invitation July 21.

Police said someone used the the opener to enter the garage and steal various items -- including the garage door opener.

The culprit is still at large.

Man Run Over

A 75-year-old man was run over by a car in the parking lot of Dapper Dan's, 10929 Prospect Rd., about 2:30 p.m. July 24.

A report said the man's leg was crushed by the car's rear wheel.

Child Used in Shoplifting

A woman called police July 24 to complain her brother's girlfriend's sister took her 11-year-old son to and had him shoplift for them.

Take That

An officer driving on Drake Road said a boy yelled an obscenity at him and mimicked shooting him as he passed July 24.

The officer called the boy's mother and told her what he did.

Biking While Intoxicated

A woman told police an intoxicated man on a bicycle hit her car ash she was pulling into Walmart about 11:30 p.m. July 22.

Police found the man inside the store and learned he was staying at a local motel. He was arrested for drunken driving.

 Dangerous Waters

A passerby alerted police to two young girls playing near a culvert with water rushing through it at Priem and Sprague roads July 22.

Police asked the girls to play in their own yard.
