Strongsville Police Blotter: 'Gunshots' on Whitney Road have Peculiar Explanation

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

A tenant at a Whitney Road apartment reported hearing someone shooting behind the building about 10:30 p.m. Aug. 21, but it was too dark to see who it was.

spoke with several people in the area, but they said they hadn't heard anything.

Officers finally identified the source of the noise: A resident on the fifth floor, who was moving out, was dropping bags of clothing off the balcony rather than take them down the elevator.

The resident said she is working with the animal warden to trap feral cats in her neighborhood.

Blowout on the Road

A strange accident was reported on I-71 Aug. 20 when a motorist's window shattered while passing another vehicle.

The other driver told police he "blew out his transmission" about 1 p.m., and when that happened, the window of the vehicle next to him broke.

It's possible something flew off the car and hit the other, a report said.

Threat Checked Out

A woman told police her ex-husband poured gasoline in his house and threatened to set it on fire Aug. 19.

She said their daughter had told her about the threat after she visited her father.

Police found no signs of gas in the house. The man said he spilled some in the driveway and his daughter stepped in it.

He also said he and his ex-wife have ongoing problems.

Lawns Turfed

Someone drove over a Woodfield Trail lawn the night of Aug. 20.

Police noted the vehicle also drove over a neighbor's lawn. There was minor damage.
