Iorillo, Grimm honored for their dedication

A Strongsville police officer and firemedic have been honored by the St. Francis of Assisi Council 10792 of the Knights of Columbus.

Patrolman Peter Iorillo and firefighter Jamie Grimm were chosen Police Officer of the Year and Firefighter of the Year.

Iorillo, who has been with the department since 1992, was nominated for his work handling SouthPark Mall

The nomination said Iorillo handled more than 450 calls and made more than 100 arrests in 2012, helping reduce thefts at the mall 14 percent.

He has a conviction rate of nearly 100 percent.

Grimm "is one of the hardest working and most competent individuals on our department," the nomination says.

He has enhanced his paramedic skills by working at Southwest General Health Center and "provides excellent customer service to the public he serves."

He is also well respected by his peers. "His enthusiasm and professionalism are infectious, and he leads by example."

Both were honored at the City Council meeting June 3.
