Suspects in Walmart Shooting Case to Be Arraigned Wednesday

Two men face drug charges in incident that ended with one shot by police officer

The two men involved in an alleged drug transaction in the parking lot Dec. 3 that led to a are scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday morning.

Lorenzo Dobyne, 24, of Middleburg Heights, and Lawrence McKissic, 28, of Cleveland, were indicted on charges of drug trafficking, drug possession and possessing criminal tools.

They are to be arraigned in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court at 8:30 a.m.

Police have said the two were involved in a drug transaction in the parking lot about 2:45 p.m.

According to reports, they started to leave the lot, then stopped. Rather than risk a pursuit on the road, officers attempted to stop them in the lot.

Dobyne, who was in the passenger seat, was removed from the car and arrested without incident, but McKissic allegedly ignored an officer's orders to stop.

He reportedly drove at a Strongsville officer while reaching into his jacket. The officer fired multiple shots, striking McKissic.

Police found crack cocaine in the vehicle.

McKissic was treated for his injuries at MetroHealth Medical Center.

An internal investigation by Strongsville police determined the officer was justified in using force.
