When Skunks Attack; Buying Meat from a Pickup Truck: Police Blotter

The following information was provided by the Strongsville Police Department

A Shale Brook Way man bought meat from two guys in a green pickup truck Sept. 15, but they left without handing over the product, a report said.

The resident said he's done business with the meat-sellers before and isn't sure if the incident was a theft or an oversight.

The report said the man bought $160 worth of meat and drove to the bank to get them the money, then realized they didn't leave the meat at his house.

Usually, they put it in the freezer. He's not sure if they intended to steal his money or just forgot to leave the meat.

Suspicious Person

Police were asked to check out a suspicious yelling man at Walmart about 4:20 a.m. Sept. 14.

He checked out, a report said. He was just singing (loudly) with his headphones on.

Wild Wildlife

A Willow Lane family called for help Sept. 13 about a family of skunks in their front yard that ran at them when they tried to leave the house.

When police arrived, all the critters had wandered back into the woods.

Up to No Good?

A man acting oddly aroused suspicions at Giant Eagle Sept. 15.

One caller said the man approached him complaining about high prices at Kohl's, and was also looking in car windows.

Police found him at the customer service desk at Giant Eagle, where the man claimed he'd seen a Cleveland Browns hat at the store the other day he just had to come back and buy.

He did, in fact, have two hats — a Browns hat he was wearing and another he was carrying.

But Giant Eagle employees said they'd had several complaints about the guy panhandling.

He was told to leave the area.

Dog is Okay

Someone asked police to check on a dog tied to a vehicle behind Costco Sept. 15.

Police found the dog had enough lead to walk on the grass, but not enough to get hit by a car. He also had a water bowl.

The owner couldn't be located, but the dog seemed fine and cared-for, the report said.
