Woman Charged After Leaving Friend's Child: Police Blotter

The following information was provided by the Strongsville Police Department

A Strongsville woman faces child endangering charges after allegedly leaving her friend's toddler with a third party overnight.

A Whitney Road man called police about noon Aug. 25 to say his roommate had left a 2- or 3-year-old girl with him the previous day and had failed to return.

The man said he did not know the mother's last name.

Police were able to contact the roommate, who said she was on her way home. But an hour later, she still wasn't there, and she didn't answer other calls to her phone, a report said.

Officers were able to find an address in Parma and asked police in that city to visit the home to see if the roommate — or the child's mother — were there.

Meanwhile, police contacted the county's department of Job and Family Services, which instructed them to bring the child to the agency.

The roommate showed up at the police station about 2 p.m. and was arrested.
