Woman in Wheelchair Gets Her Pizza, Thanks to Officer; Theft from Car: Police Blotter

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

 

A concerned witness alerted police to a woman in a wheelchair riding in the street on Pearl Road shortly before noon Jan. 27.

The woman told police although the sidewalks were mainly clear, they were still slushy and her electric wheelchair was getting stuck.

The officer drove behind the woman as she went to Marco's so she could get a pizza for lunch, then followed her back to her apartment on Falling Water Drive to make sure she got home safely.

Theft from Auto

A GPS and a bag containing tools were stolen from a work van in an Olde Orchard Road driveway.

A report said the theft took place between Jan. 25 and Jan. 27. The vehicle was unlocked.

Suspicious Snow Bank

A passerby noticed a man wearing a tan coat go up to a snow bank on Royalton Road Jan. 26 and stash a backpack behind it.

Crash Leads to Drunken Driving Arrest

Tracks told the story of a car that went off Prospect Road about 4 a.m. Jan. 26, hitting a tree, then swerving to the other side of the road and striking a fence, driving through a yard and taking out some bricks and more fence before getting back on the road and continuing south.

The driver was stopped a short time later and charged with drunken driving, weaving and leaving the scene of an accident.

Neighbor Gone, But Not Forgotten

A Pearl Road resident complained Jan. 25 that his house was broken into, and he thinks it was the residents who just moved out of the duplex.

The neighbors also left a car in the garage the Pearl Road man believes was stolen.
