Strongsville is above average in vehicle ownership, U.S. Census figures show

Lots of traffic in Strongsville? Maybe it has to do with the number of cars.

The city ranks above average in vehicle ownership, according to the U.S. Census.

Almost 68 percent of households own two or more vehicles, and 22.5 percent own 3 or more.

In Ohio, the average for three or more vehicles is 20.3 percent; nationwide, it's 20 percent. About 58 percent of households in the United States own two or more cars.

According to the Census, 4 percent of Strongsville households do not have a vehicle, 28 percent have one vehicle and 45 percent have two.

It's a bit simplistic to say, though, that the relatively high car ownership rates contribute significantly to the traffic in town.

go through the Royalton-Howe intersection, many headed to I-71 or the shopping district.

Even more travel the Pearl-Royalton intersection -- more than 56,000 a day.

Mayor Tom Perciak has said the sheer volume of traffic makes it tricky to  here.
