All 11 City Council hopefuls set to speak at Republican Club event

The Strongsville Republican Club will sponsor a Candidates’ Night for the Strongsville City Council Candidates in the May 3 primary on March 28.

The event is set for 7 p.m. at the Event Center in the It is free and open to the public.

All 11 of the candidates for ward 2, 3 and 4 council have agreed to participate in the forum.

Candidates in Ward 2 are incumbent Ray Haseley, Nate Prahst, Matt Schonhut, Bill White and Tony Zubek. Ward 3 candidates are Jim Carbone, Larry Frawley and Tom McMillen. Incumbent Mark Roth is not seeking re-election.

In Ward 4, recently appointed Scott Maloney is being opposed by Patricia Pell and Steve Sinisgalli.

In each race, voters will narrow the field to two at the May 3 primary. Ward 1 Councilman Mike Daymut and Mayor Tom Perciak are unopposed in their re-election bids.

Candidates will have a chance to address the community and answer questions submitted by the audience. Rea Cantwell, executive director of the Strongsville Chamber of Commerce and former assistant superintendent of the Strongsville City Schools, will serve as moderator.

The forum will also be televised live on the government cable channel 21.
