City, Chambers Host Workshops for Small Businesses

Series of seminars aimed at helping local entrepreneurs

The city's Economic Development and Technology Committee is planning a series of workshops to help owners of small businesses in the area.

The committee has teamed with the Chamber of Commerce from , Brunswick, Berea and Middleburg Heights to invite local business owners to a series of educational workshops.

They will be held at the University of Akron's Midpoint Campus Center, 50 Pearl Rd., Brunswick. All are free, but seating is limited. Register through the Strongsville Chamber of Commerce by emailing info@strongsvillechamber.com.

The sessions are:

Oct. 6 -- "Your Small Business Tomorrow" presented by Steve Millard, president of COSE.

Nov. 10 -- "Recruiting the Best Employees" presented by Kenyon Mau of Human Capital Advisors.

Jan. 12 -- "Marketing Strategies for Small Businesses" presented by Tom Speaks of The Impact Group.

Feb. 9 -- "Help! Managing Stress" presented by Paul Levy, chairman of the psychology department at the University of Akron and graduate student Aimee King.

March 8 -- For the female entrepreneur (formal title not yet available) presented by Margey Lowery, marketing director of Ladies Who Launch Akron/Cleveland.

All sessions start at 6 p.m. A light meal is provided.
