The city will put a "housekeeping" type of charter amendment on the ballot this fall that would change the filing deadline for Strongsville candidates.
Law Director Ken Kraus said the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections is asking cities to have the same filing deadline as the state's, which is 90 days before an election.
"They don't want different communities on different time frames," Kraus said.
Strongsville's charter calls for candidates to file their petitions 75 days before an election.
Charter changes must be approved by a vote of the people.
Kraus said the Board of Elections sent letters to cities with charters that have deadlines other than 90 days, asking them to consider changing them.
