City Will Recycle Your Christmas Tree

Effort will keep them from going into landfill

The city's service department will pick up Christmas trees from Dec. 26 through Jan. 31.

The effort will prevent the trees from going to a landfill, according to Jennifer Milbrandt, the city's natural resources coordinator.

Residents should take all ornaments and lights off the trees and place them at the curb on their regular trash pickup day.

The program is dependent on the weather. The crews that pick up the trees are the same ones that plow the streets, so snow removal will take precedence.
