Service Director Joe Walker said that after those yard and basement floods, workers spent the following week from creeks and storm sewers.

Walker said the huge amount of rainwater -- nearly 6 inches -- carried large chunks of debris into the waterways, contributing to the flooding.

On Monday morning, parts of Valley Parkway were closed in Strongsville, but it is not unusual for water to wash over the roadway in those areas.
