Proposed Redistricting Puts Strongsville in New Territory

City would no longer be split, or represented by Kucinich

The proposed redrawing of congressional boundaries would put all of Strongsville in one district.

Most of the city now lies in the 13th Congressional District, represented by Democrat Betty Sutton. The northern part of town is in District 10, represented by Dennis Kucinich, also a Democrat.

Proposed maps of the redistricting show Strongsville falling into the newly drawn District 16, which two incumbents -- Sutton and Jim Renacci, a Republican currently representing the 16th District -- potentially facing off.

"While I am currently reviewing Ohio’s new districts, I will continue to fight to protect our middle-class and create jobs in Northeast Ohio, and look forward to continuing that fight for years to come," Sutton said in a statement.

The proposed new 16th District would stretch northwest to North Olmsted, Fairview Park and Westlake, and include Olmsted Falls, Middleburg Heights, North Royalton, Brunswick, Medina, Hinckley, Wadsworth, Wooster, Orrville and North Canton.
