Quality of Life Gets High Marks in Survey

Businesses say services in Strongsville are good

The city ranked high in police and fire protection, shopping and recreation in a .

More than 90 percent of non-retail businesses rated the city's amenities as "good" or "excellent" in the following areas: fire, police, , shopping, health care services, snow/ice removal and natural gas services.

Falling between 80 and 90 percent were air cargo/shipping, street and sidewalk cleaning, business services, the school system, childcare services, air service, local roads and freeway access and water and sewers.

The city will use the results of the survey to help market Strongsville to other firms.

"It really makes an impact when other companies see the businesses here are happy and doing well," Economic Development Director Brent Painter said.

The city sent the survey to 151 businesses and received 37 -- about 25 percent -- back.

Nearly 95 percent rates the overall quality of life here as good or excellent, and 100 percent would recommend locating in Strongsville to another business.

Painter said city officials also use the survey to evaluate themselves and to "understand how business owners are feeling, what they're going through and how we can help them."
