Start Training Now for Strongsville Triathlon

Rec center offers programs to get participants in shape for Aug. 20 event

The city's Recreation Department will host its sixth annual triathlon Aug. 20.

The race will include a half-mile swim in the Ehrnfelt Recreation Center pool, followed immediately by a 10-mile spin ride on a stationary bike and ending with a 5K run around Strongsville.

Cost is $35 for residents who are rec center members, $40 for resident non-members and $45 for non-resident non-members. The race is limited to 40 participants.

Registration will be taken through Aug. 10. Forms are available at the front desk.

To get racers in shape, the rec center is offering specialized spinning classes along with run clubs and private swim lessons designed specifically to hone your skills for the event.

Participants will meet with Head Coach Juan Pacheco three times (in a group setting) throughout the program to ask questions.

Registration fee includes T-shirt, triathlon-designed exercise program and post-triathlon refreshments. Awards will be given to the top finishers.
