Strongsville Town Center May be Focus of Land-Use Study

Business, transportation in the middle of city will get a close look

The city is taking the first step toward an overhaul of the business district in the middle of town.

Strongsville's town center would be the focus of a Transportation for Livable Communities study, which looks at things like how land in that area is used and how it could be redeveloped.

"It would be a detailed study," Mayor Tom Perciak said. "It would look at the use of the land -- how we have a gas station here, a shopping plaza there."

The city is asking the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency to provide a $75,000 federal grant for the project. The city would give a 20 percent match.

NOACA said its Transportation for Livable Communities Initiative looks at developing transportation projects that "provide more travel options," increasing user safety and supporting positive public health impacts.

It also seeks to promote reinvestment in underutilized or vacant/abandoned properties.

"There will be recommendations," Perciak said. "This is the right way to do it."
