Council President Mike Daymut said that while council members offer suggestions on which roads should be resurfaced, the city's engineering department determines the ones most in need, using a pavement rating system.

"We'd like to be able to do more, but there's only so much money in the budget," Daymut said.

A South Drive resident complained at a recent City Council meeting that his street and others in his neighborhood are among the oldest in Strongville and are no on the list.

"We don't even have curbs," Richard Bellsario said.

Ward 3 Councilman Mark Roth said he could not promise any action this year. He said that while "politics" in past years created a number of "deplorable" street conditions in his ward, 16 of the roads on the repair list this year are in Ward 3 neighborhoods.

"I can't ask for all the streets," Roth said.
