Thousands Show Up To Hear Mitt Romney at Pancake Breakfast in Brunswick

Roughly 3,000 people showed up for free pancakes and to listen to the presumed Republican presidential candidate say he can improve the economy.

BRUNSWICK -- The rain didn't seem to dampen the enthusiasm for presumptive Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney in Brunswick Sunday.

The Plain Dealer estimated that some of the 2,500 and 3,000 who showed up at Mapleside Farms in Brunswick for the free pancakes and to listen to the candidate speak, waited for hours in the rain.

In his first of three bus stops in Ohio Sunday, Romney compared the parting clouds to the country's economic future, according to the Washington Post.

“The sun is coming out, guys! Three-and-a-half years of dark clouds are about to part. It’s about to get a little warmer around this country, a little brighter,” Romney said, according to The New York Times blog The Caucus

Romney's wife, Ann, two of his sons and four of his 18 grandchildren attended the Father's Day event. Also joining him was Ohio Rep. Senator Rob Portman, considered a possible vice presidential candidate, according to The Washington Post.

Romney also made an appearance on the CBS television show Face the Nation Sunday and said he thought President Barack Obama's recent executive order on immigration was political. But Romney did not say whether he would appeal it, according to the Boston Globe.

For more details on the future visits by Romney to Ohio, considered a battleground state for the election, and campaign events, check out his campaign page.

The commentary is so much less about the content of Mr. Romney's speech than it is about who deleted whose comments. Let's get on board with the discussion. Either you can vote for Mr. Romney or you can re-elect Mr. Obama based on their stand on the issues. November cannot come fast enough.

A lot of people had the same fear of JFK, thinking he would defer to the Pope on policy and decision making. JFK did a pretty good job.
I would like to believe that whatever the religion, they can personally follow their faith, but not allow it to take precedence in governing a country of so many diverse religions. If religion is such a factor, we should only allow atheists and agnostics to run for office.

I have checked both. Votd for O bummer 1st time. Never again. He has done more to destroy our country than any other. What a joke. Shame on me first time. Will not be a second. Mitt is not my first choice for sure. But would rather vote for a dead yellow dog than O BUMMER AGAIN. His record stands and is not good for any one.

paxton you made a claim (talking point) now back your claim up with facts, and telling someone to google it! shows you have no clue what you are talking about
joe simonton June 19, 2012 at 02:15 pm
cory it does make it a big deal that obama is a socialist
Jay June 19, 2012 at 02:49 pm
I have to wonder why you feel the need to degrade yourself by using the name O Bummer, when you speak about the president? Does it make you feel more important when you resort to slander? I'm not happy with President Obama's record as well, but I still have enough respect to use his proper name when I speak of him.
You are free to like, dislike, hate, or dispise President Obama, but when you resort to slandering his name, you lose all credibilty as being sincere in what you say.

"Personal attacks seems to be the norm for the left, and far right."
So, Myron -- which one are you? Far right or the left? Hypocrite.
Tom Tucker June 19, 2012 at 03:10 pm
"He has done more to destroy our country than any other."
Oh really? Like what? Name AT LEAST 3 -- and do NOT include "Obamacare" since that's not been implemented yet -- that he's done to destroy this country. And while you're at it, back it up with proven data that doesn't come from your favorite partisan websites. Anyone with intelligence (which obviously includes the likes of you) consider Congress to be the most destructive for our country than any other. But the likes of you usually don't know how the branches of government operate, either.
Brandon Scullion June 19, 2012 at 03:10 pm
Hypocrisy at its finest.
And just to disclose this to everyone, I do not get all of my news from a comedy show. I have 2 degrees in history, I read and I pay attention to the world. This show just does a great job of pointing on the insanity of what is going on. And people are still standing by their convictions that he is going to do this and do that. http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/tue-may-29-2012/communist-central http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/tue-may-29-2012/communist-central---obama-s-socialist-scheme 2 minute mark on this one. http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/mon-june-4-2012/norman-j--ornstein---thomas-e--mann Ronald Regan http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/wed-february-22-2012/bruce-bartlett http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/wed-february-22-2012/indecision-2012---president-evil

For those of you who are worried about Romney being a Mormon and injecting his religious beliefs into his politics just remember that the majority leader of the Senate is also a Mormon. So if you think Harry Reid does a good job of separation of church and state then you must give a fair shot to Romney.

This Latina will vote for Romney! I am tired of Obama's divisiveness, his refusal to uphold the laws of our nation, his repeated attempts to rule by fiat, his repeated attacks on those of us who have busted our butts and have had some measure of financial success, his denigration of American individualism, and his general socialist tendencies. i did not vote for him the first time, and I will certainly not vote for him this time. Although Romney may not have the "charisma" that Obama seems to display, he certainly appears to be more cognizant and respectful of our Constitution, the American way of life, and "government of the people, by the people, and for the people". Personally, I can't wait to bid Obama GOOD-BYE!

only 3
1) Richard Cordray appointment as a recess nomination while congress was still in session (Congress has the constitutional obligation to vet presidential appointees) 2) printed up over 2 trillion dollars worth of bills "out of the air with no backing driving costs of goods up 3) offshore drilling ban after the courts over-ruled his decisions (which his administration is in contempt of court over)
tom m June 19, 2012 at 04:23 pm
LOL the daily show he is way too one sided as is bill mahr, rush and glenn beck. and your 2 degrees in history hold no water with me, since you stated "The daily show just does a great job of pointing on the insanity of what is going on"
Evan Hammersmith June 19, 2012 at 04:33 pm
Tom, just to add to the list: no deal on Keystone XL pipeline, This week's defacto Amnesty of Illegals, the trillion dollar wasted porkulus bill, Wasted money to green energy companies going bankrupt, no budget in over 3 years, Shall I keep going?

Obama going overseas and during his speeches made apologies for American policies not to mention fast a furious and the use of czars instead of appointing cabinet members ( to bypass getting congressional approval)
joe simonton June 19, 2012 at 05:37 pm
jay your 1st link is to the daily banter who's editor also writes for the huffington post and appears on the RT network (russia today)
your second link is to the salon whos editor is Kerry Lauerman from the heavily left leaning mother jones (mojo) so neither of your links hold much weight as fair and non-biased
Brandon Scullion June 19, 2012 at 05:49 pm
I didn't post that to garner your respect. I just wanted to point out that I am educated and can form a valid opinion.
I'm ok with the fact that you disagree with me.
Brandon Scullion June 19, 2012 at 05:52 pm
Joe, I'm not trying to throw stones here but I was wondering if you would list your preferred news sites/sources?
Jay June 19, 2012 at 05:53 pm
Steve Wollf
If the exchange of opinions in this thread, (some more heated than others) can cause you to request your profile/account/comments to be withdrawn, I'd sure hate to in a position where I'd only have you to depend on.
Jay June 19, 2012 at 06:35 pm
Joe Simonton, I'm with Brandon Scullion on this one. What are your preferred news sites/sources?
I post what I think is of interest. I'm not as concerned as you over who wrote or said what I post, as as I know, and I'm sure you know as well, there is no such thing as a fair and non-biased source out there.

To celebrate the United States' bicentennial birthday, Jefferson's portrait was used for the new two-dollar bill, one of the rarest dollar bills in the U.S. currency system. Thanks a lot.

I agree with tom m. It is not "user friendly" at all! The whole setup and search isRead More terrible. This new format should be thrown out and the old one put back in place. A look at other Patch editions out of state also have very little comments now. I would much prefer the old Patch, but now a better alternative by far to this new Patch is any of these: http://www.strongsville.com/ and http://www.thepostnewspapers.com/strongsville/ and http://www.cleveland.com/strongsville/ and http://hometownindependent.com/strongsville/
lyn June 18, 2013 at 07:40 pm
I agree with tom - this new format is awful - nothing good about it at all. Throw it out and putRead More the old Patch back in place. Hey readers, check out strongsville.com - its a better alternative than this Patch is now. For news, just go to cleveland.com.

I keep trying to leave a comment with links to other local sites - but the comment disappears. AtRead More least these other ones are much better alternatives than this new Patch. I agree with tom m - this new Patch is awful, nothing good about it at all.
