Unions to Rally Against Senate Bill 5 Tuesday

Hundreds expected to gather on Strongsville Commons

Teachers, firefighters, police officers and other public employees are expected to rally on the Strongsville Commons at 5 p.m. Tuesday in opposition to Senate Bill 5.

The rally, organized by the Ohio Education Association in conjunction with the North Shore AFL CIO and other unions, will be one of 12 held throughout Ohio, including one in Akron.

Senate Bill 5 would severely limit the collective bargaining rights of union workers, allowing them to negotiate for wages, but not for health benefits or pensions. It would also prohibit workers from striking.
