Office Sought: Strongsville City Council Ward 4

Previous Political Office Sought or Held: 4 1/2 years on the Bay Village Board of Education; 3 1/2 years on the Strongsville Board of Education; eight months on Strongsville City Council

Candidate Statement: My wife and I have always shared a passion for wanting to give back to the community where we live, and we plan to continue doing that for many years to come. Vicki and I believe that our hard work, and that of many others, will ultimately bring NE Ohio back to a level of prosperity that will get future generations, ideally our own children, excited again about wanting to stay in the region rather than move away.

I believe my 20 years of leadership experience in business, volunteerism, and elected office make me very well suited to help continue the positive trends we have seen in recent years under the leadership of the mayor, his administration, and city council. In a time of severe economic strain, Strongsville is one of the few communities in the area that was able to maintain city services, and do it with 40 less personnel than the city had in 2008. The city has earned a AAA bond rating, one of only 13 municipalities in the state of Ohio. We planned ahead, and without raising taxes we have made many improvements to infrastructure. We are well positioned to attract new businesses to our business parks, and to our vacant retail space along the Pearl Rd corridor in Ward 4.

Residents who have reached out to me since I was appointed unanimously by City Council to fill a vacant seat in January would confirm that I am a good listener, I’m responsive to their inquiries, and I do everything I can to help resolve whatever issue they may have with city services. If elected to my first four year term in November, I will work tremendously hard to serve our Strongsville residents and businesses to maintain the tradition of excellence that everyone has come to expect. I will work collaboratively with my fellow councilmen, the mayor and his administration to continuously improve services while finding ways to do it for a lower cost.
