When Cameron Perisutti was looking for an Eagle Scout project, he wanted to do something that would help people directly.
"I thought the best way to go about that was to target education," said Cameron, 17, who starts his junior year at on Thursday.
So he found the Reach Out and Read program at Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital and offered to help.
The result? Books — lot of books. Like 4,000 of them.
Cameron collected the children's books over two weeks at the after sending out mass emails, making fliers and posting information about his drive on Facebook and Twitter.
He delivered them Tuesday to kids at Rainbow.
"It was so wonderful to see their faces," said Cameron, a member of Troop 701, which meets at . "They said it was the biggest donation they've ever gotten."
Cameron read to some kids at the hospital before leaving.
Troop 701 should give motivation lessons to the 280 member marching band about collection donations by "sending out mass emails, making fliers and posting information about his drive on Facebook and Twitter"
