Teachers' strike in its second week -- Key players from the Strongsville Schools and the Strongsville Education Association meet with a federal mediator March 11, but the session fails to move the ongoing teachers' strike toward a resolution. The SEA subsequently calls on all five School Board members to meet to negotiate this weekend, but the board declines, saying it will abide by the ground rules and only negotiate when the mediator calls a session.

More from the teachers' strike -- A group of parents and residents hold a rally on the City Commons, calling for an end to the strike. Parents get together to make wall decorations for classrooms. Attendance is up at the schools, and about 20 new substitutes join the ranks each day.

Sports complex proposed -- Two Strongsville men are  proposing an indoor facility for training in basketball, volleyball, batting, conditioning and agility on Progress Drive.

Substitute's car hit -- Police are looking for witnesses to an incident in which a substitute teacher's windshield was shattered on I-71 by someone in another car.

New homes -- The final phase of the Westwood Farms subdivision has been approved by the Planning Commission.
