Schools Hit Jackpot with New Casino

Districts will get portion of tax revenue

The will cash in on the new Horseshoe Casino without ever spinning the roulette wheel.

District Treasurer Bill Parkinson said Strongsville stands to receive an estimated $550,000 a year in tax money from Ohio's four new gambling spots.

Parkinson said figures were recently released about the estimated revenue for the state's casinos, allowing districts to calculate their share of tax money.

He said casinos are estimated to reap $167 million per quarter.

Distribution of the tax money to Ohio districts is based on school enrollment.
