Strongsville High Soccer Players Earn National Distinction

Six Strongsville High athletes will head to Kansas in July to play in the presigious 2013 US Youth National Soccer Championships.

Six Strongsville High School soccer players traveled to Las Vegas this past weekend and helped their club team, Cleveland United U17, win a coveted US Youth Soccer National League tournament.

It's the first time a team from Ohio Youth Soccer Association North (OYSAN) has ever won the Player's College Showcase tournament, which earned them an automatic bid to the 2013 US Youth National Soccer Championships, according to Strongsville parent Cheryl Ehrnfelt.

The girls -- Alexis Manoa, Paige Amodio, Nicolette Griesinger, Kelly Novak, Lizzie Ehrnfelt and Maddy Novak -- went undefeated during league play this season (7-0) and only gave up one goal, said Ehrnfelt.
