Candidate's Statement:

I have attended Strongsville Schools K-12; starting my education at Drake Elementary, moving onto Center Middle School then graduating from the High School's class of 2011. I bring to the table an insider view of how the district actually functions. Our district has some of the best academics, athletics and arts in the state and even in the nation. We should not be cutting these programs, we should be growing them. Adding common sense fixes that teachers, students and administration would welcome is the key to fiscal sustainability.

I see the biggest problem we have in this district is a working culture that fails fellow staff, students and parents. I wish to champion reforms aimed both at cutting spending and adding revenue (without simply adding new taxes) while improving the ability for teachers to do their jobs. Teachers and students are forced to work with out-of-date textbooks and technology. This is not acceptable, we can do better.

I propose the use of creative ways to both cut costs and add revenue. Examples include combining back-office support with other districts sharing resources and saving the district money. Additionally, I would like to privatize the high school cafeteria services. With this reform, staff and students would get a higher quality product and the district would gain another revenue source.
