Cleveland Metroparks will put a new spin on a triathlon in Hinckley

Cleveland Metroparks invites everyone to test their endurance in the Ledges to Lake Adventure Race around Hinckley Reservation on Saturday, Sept. 22.

This family-friendly race is meant for everyone from novices to more experienced racers.

The race starts and ends at Spillway Picnic Area, adjacent to Hinckley Lake in Hinckley Reservation. Participants begin by testing their running skills for 3 miles on the bridle trail before grabbing a kayak and paddling 2 miles around Hinckley Lake.

Then, they bike 9 miles to the finish line.

You can register as an individual (age 14 and older), or team (age 10 and older with participating adult), or relay (two to three people 14 and older).

Check-in is from 7 to 8:15 a.m., and the race begins at 8:30 a.m.

Pre-register by Monday, Sept. 3 as an individual ($57.50), team ($82.50) or relay ($102.50).

Late and same-day registration is also available: individual ($77.50), team ($102.50) or relay ($122.50).

A limited supply of kayaks can be reserved for $10 per boat.

Mail-in registrations must be received by Sept. 14. Make checks payable to and mail to: NCN Racing, 649 Augdon Dr., Elyria, OH 44035.

Post-race refreshments will be available, and adults 21 and over can purchase Great Lakes Brewing Company beer at the Beer Garden.

Spillway Picnic Area is off West Drive in Hinckley Reservation, off Bellus Road in Hinckley Township.
