Strongsville Bounces Avon Lake with Late-Game 3-Pointer

Mustangs varsity, JV win at home Tuesday night

 

The Strongsville High School boys varsity basketball team won a nail-biter over Avon Lake at home Tuesday night with a 3-point shot that broke a tie with 12 seconds left.

The Mustangs beat the Shoremen 55-52. Tom Krokey led the Mustangs with 14 points.

Strongsville led 34-23 at the half and took a 14-point lead at one point, but Avon Lake tied the score at 50 with 1:20 left in the game.

With the score tied again at 52, the Mustangs hit a 3-point shot with 12 seconds left.

The Strongsville JV team also scored a last-minute victory with a basket at the buzzer that put them 38-37 over Avon Lake.

The freshman Mustangs also won Tuesday night agains Holy Name High School, 49-44.
