Strongsville Teenager Travels to Pony World Series

Trevor Denning will play game one with the Premier Pythons on Friday

A Strongsville teenager will play in the Pony World Series on Friday in California with the Premier Pythons 13-and-up baseball team.

Trevor Denning, 13, has helped his team achieve a 57-8 record due to his versatility in the field.

His flexibility makes him and asset to them team, said coach Mark Mohnickey, who teaches his player different positions to make them more marketable when they reach high school.

Denning plays outfield, pitcher and third base for the pythons. Most of his teammates play two or more positions.

“They’re good athletes and they want to be coachable and successful baseball players,” Mohnickey said.

The team traveled to Fullerton, CA on Thursday, after winning the Pony Eastern Zone Championship last week.

The Pythons will face Jurupa, a California team, on Friday.

“We just have to stay in the right mindset and not let the stage get to us,” Mohnickey said of the competition ahead.
