Homecoming Attendance as Good as It Gets

Four days of nice weather kept crowds flocking to festival

On a good year, Strongsville Chamber of Commerce officials estimate 50,000 people flock to the City Commons during the four days of the .

This year?

"I'm sure we had that, if not more," said Amy Ferree, executive director of the chamber. "We had very large numbers beecause of the weather."

Because there is no admission fee, exact attendance can't be tracked.

"It's all weather-driven," Ferree said. "If it's rainy, people don't come, and if it's too hot and human, they stay in the air conditioning."

This year -- unlike last year, when the Commons became a muddy mess -- rain wasn't an issue.

Winner of the 50/50 raffle was Claudia Ashbrook of Strongsville. Ferree said she will be presented with a check for $3,175 at the next meeting of the trustees.
