thank goodness they put those cones up so we would know where the parade route is, this is another leap towards bubble wrapping our kids up , just in case a flying piece of candy pokes them in their eye and then they feel bad

Seriously? Do you not know what kind of society we live in these days? People stub their toe and are ready to sue. Can you imagine someone's child walking out in the middle of the road in front of the band or dancers and getting trampled? Or worse yet, in front of a car while the driver is waving to the other side and not paying attention. A lawyer would eat the city alive when he finds out there was no barriers, no cones, no tape! And how much time and money would THAT cost the city? I believe a little CYA goes a long way here, especially when you have hundreds of kids lining Pearl Rd. Plus the first people that arrive at the parade don't know exactly how much room (width) the parade is going to need to get through. Trust me, without barriers you would have kids running all over Pearl wherever they feel like it, and the parade marshalls would have to work that much harder to push the crowd back.

wow david its amazing that there are any people left alive in strongsville, .... all those years of parades going back decades ..... the way you speak tens of thousands of kids must have died on that narrow 5 lane road after being trampled by all those bands and millions more must have been injured after being beaten by the parade marshalls ...can anyone say drama queen

Actually I was just responding to those implying that the city efforts were excessive, and perhaps giving the justification behind it. It takes just ONE child (not tens of thousands) to do something stupid and for that child's parents to cry that they didn't know any better because the parade wasn't properly marked off, for a lawsuit to occur. Just saying that the city was acting responsibly! There is a possible lawsuit out there at any major event. Cut the city a brake for taking extra safety measures!
