Have a Library Fine? Pay It Off in Food

Donate to foodbank next week and library will reduce what you owe

You can pay your library fine and help the area's hungry next week.

Cuyahoga County Public Library will have a Food4Fines food drive at its 28 branches from Sunday, March 4 through Saturday, March 10 in conjunction with the Harvest for Hunger campaign.

Bring these six most-needed items to the and get $1 deducted from your fine for each item you donate, up to $4 per visit.

  • Peanut butter
  • Cereal
  • Canned soup
  • Canned vegetables
  • Beef stew
  • Tuna fish

Food items will be collected at check-out desks. Damaged and expired food items will not be accepted, and customers are asked to avoid donating food in glass containers. All donations will be delivered to the Cleveland Foodbank for distribution.

This is the fourth year the library has held a Food4Fines food drive. Food4Fines raised more than 9,000 pounds in donations in just one week last year, and more than 31,000 pounds in donations over the past three years.

Cash donations for the Cleveland Foodbank will be accepted at all library branches during the Harvest for Hunger campaign, which runs March 4 through April 21.
